3 things Endomorph body types need to know

1.  eat more PROTIEN

2.  eat more good FAT (more mono- and polyunsaturated fats)

3.  restrict Carb intake to mostly vegetables 

 

These are habit changes, they need to be done overtime while you watch how your body repsonds

The answer my friend is always…. depends!!

There are 3 distinct body types   & depending on your genetics or what your parent’s body types were will determine what you are blessed with (or cursed as some people feel).

I get into discussions with all kinds of different people saying they have hips like grandma or thighs like the aunty, the kicker is they are all great bodies!!

Females naturally hold about 15% body fat and males about 8% (for organ function) and any extra like 20%-40% is TOO FAT!!

That’s why you’re unhappy, not because you have big hips or flabby arms, but because you may have a little too much body fat stored in places you don’t want it.

What you weigh is overrated

As a personal trainer I don’t care what you weigh – now if you have 50lbs of extra body fat you carry around by all means lets lose some weight

I believe body fat and your body type are more important to your physique and well-being than just your weight alone

I tell all my female clients to be @30% BF or below – male clients @20% BF  or below

Frozen Dinners

I have talked about “pre-packaged meals” since 2001 and the first thing I do to help new clients lose body fat (endomorphs, mesomorphs) is to stop them eating these poor quality meals.

I’m so glad to hear mainstream media talking about this food subject and when I came across this pic I had to post it.

GT Get Fit Tip: Best Time for a Jog

This is the best time of year to wake up in the morning and go for a jog or run.  The humidity is low & the temperature is below 75-80F, PERFECT for a jog!!

What if you are like me and DESPISE running? Well….

I admit it, I’m a personal trainer and do not prefer running so I spend +8 hours a day training clients without ever running on pavement,treadmills, black top, concrete or whatever.  People I train have different body types and most are packing a few EXTRA pounds so asking them to go from the couch to a 5k is bit ridiculous in my opinion.

The knees, hips and feet will love you for that one!!

Don’t give up on yourself, there is hope and lots of things we can do to lose a few pounds.

Sugar High Fix

Great point brought up this morning in the studio about sugar, you have to know how much sugar you are getting throughout the day, period!!  Not only do you have to watch the sugar like sweets and candy but more importantly you have to understand and know what sugar is in the products that you buy.

My rule of thumb for people who are STUCK, FRUSTRATED, DISGUSTED with how much body fat they have is to count how many sugar grams they consume in 3 days.  You can eat what you desire but do not average more than 50g sugar/day

Depending on what body type you have could determine how much sugar you can get away with.  I have a sweet tooth at 3 o’clock and like a drug-addict I need my sugar fix,  but that’s not because I’m hungry, that’s because I’m just CRAVING!!

commit 6wks – join a gym, boot camp, hire a trainer or grab a friend, it doesn’t matter how you commit but give your body type 6 full weeks to adapt to the changes you have made.  The body works in 4-6wks increments so be PATIENT

It’s my Blog, I’ll Post if I want to

My favorite time of year is here bc everyone is mindful of getting the year started on a positive note with new year resolutions and fitness memberships.  My personal training studio doesnt peak this time of year but traffic increases significantly and we start to have more fun when we workout.

I haven’t been active posting on my blog lately but today I wanted to after this mornings Robin Shea Show and talking with the “beef industry” suits.  I wanted to get this down on my blog so I can always refer to it when I talk with people and specific body types.

“Every diet, every organic food, every frozen vegetable, fried tomatoes, grain-fed beef, farm raised fish, pesticide free crop will nourish your body, but not all is of good quality to eat.  Each human being on Earth will lose weight if they eat less than the day before, just like every book is a children’s book if the kid can read. “

I always choose Quality over Quantity and tell all my clients “EAT to LIVE not LIVE to EAT”

Know Your Body Type: Measure and Re-Measure

Holiday season is here and people’s focus will shift back to how overweight they are what they’re going to do about it.  When you go to the office parties and family dinners you will see and hear everyone’s excuse for their poor physical health.

If you are currently working out alone then now is the time you want to have your body measured.  Take the time to measure hips, thighs, abs, chest and arms and if you can have a Fit Coach assess your body fat composition.  Knowing what body type you have (endomorph, ectmorph, mesomorph) and how your body fat and muscle mass is distributed is the key to formulating a workout routine that will yield RESULTS

Measuring is the time when you can critique how your training program is fairing.  You don’t know where you are going if you don’t know where you been.  You have to obtain measuring points so you can compare.  Comparisons will help you determine the course of action for the next 4-6wks.  Adjustments will have to be made to nutrition intake and workout regime in order for the body to respond and adapt the positive changes you working towards.
